Glucox' Unique Research Discovery Confirmed by US Scientist

“This is an important step towards a drug treatment for Diabetes” says Mona Wilcke, CEO of the Swedish biotechnology company Glucox Biotech.

An American research group led by professor C S Stump has convincingly shown in the last issue of the respected scientific periodical Journal of Biological Chemistry, JBC, that one of the underlying mechanism for type 2-diabetes may be abnormal activity levels of an enzyme in the cellular energy metabolism, NADPH-oxidase. The Swedish company Glucox Biotech owns the patent rights for this enzyme.

Since three years, Glucox works on developing a therapeutic drug against diabetes on this particular enzyme. The work of Glucox is concentrated to discovering drug candidates that shall reduce the activity of this enzyme in a specific and safe manner.

Recently, Glucox Biotech submitted a novel patent application covering the exclusive right to apply these drug substances for treatment of diabetes.
